A Case of Salivary Gland Choristoma in the Middle Ear
Ryu Chang-Hwan

Chung Jong-Woo
Abstract
Salivary gland choristoma is the heterotopic rest of histologically normal tissue. It is extremely uncommon in the middle ear space and often accompanies abnormalities of the ossicles and the facial nerve. The constancy of these findings has led to the proposal of an abnormal developmental syndrome. It usually occurs with unilateral conductive hearing loss and requires a differential diagnosis from other mass lesions in the middle ear cavity. We present the case of 8-year-old girl with salivary gland choristoma in the middle ear associated with the facial nerve and ossicular chain abnormalities with literature reviews.
